May 4, this weekend is the Safari's Carnival on Saturday and Mothers Day on Sunday. On Sunday all Mom's get in free. You just have to bring the kids as proof. Come and see the many babies including kangaroos, donkeys and the newest addition.....a baby black bear. Also meet Sammi our new camel. She loves to show off by drinking 2 liter bottles of pop.

SB 1798. Oklahoma is trying to ban all private ownership of big cats, bears and primates. My initial response is sounds like a good thing. But they way it is written there are ALOT of flaws that could flood sanctuaries with these newly unwanted pets. Plus are our officials ready to start confiscating these animals? Is Okla ready to arm every police, wildlife, animal control with dart guns, and the teaching of use and administring of the drug? Look it up....
January 28, 2010 Patas Monkey; just rescued. Native to Africa, mid size monkeys. Was a house pet for 16 years, now with us. She hates blondes by the way :/
January 27, 2010 Sphynx cats; anyone seen "The book of Eli", it opens with this post apocolyptic looking cat, bald, skinny. Its just a SPHYNX. We have one - you can come see him, touch him....
WINTER WARNING - do you have your pets ready for the winter? Nice warm place to sleep/lay, blocked from wind, rain/sleet. Plus fresh, thawed water (they drink more in colder temperatures).

September 2009 Just rescued a mob! Yep Safaris is in the mob... kangaroo mob that is!
Took in some more birds, conures, mini macaws.
Lioness, Gypsy, wasnt feeling well, Dr Dan Danner, our veterinarian, came out to check , we sedated her, and performed a check up, she had a bad tooth, Dr Danner performed a root canal right there. He is amazing! If you need a good veterinarian, Dr Danner at Animal Medical Surgical Hospital (AMSH) 918-492-2674... the best for all animals, domestic and specializes in exotics. THANK YOU DR DANNER!!
Also rescuerd more iguanas... snakes... just brought all the snakes back inside for the cooler months today. Moving birds in next....
June 29, 2009 Checking in, got calls to rescue a parrot ---for $600. Hello, thats not rescue. We don't BUY animals. Meat delivery today $2000. OUCH.
June 27, 2009 Hot day... got more calls to rescue WOLF hybrids! People! do your research B4 you go buy any exotic.... I get a couple calls a day for wolves. Yes everyday.... so very sad. I cant rescue them all.
June 23, 2009 Rescuing a quaker parrot. Plus got 3 calls on wolves in need of homes. Also rehab for a bird that fell outa tree. And a baby skunk. Typical day in the life at Safari's.
Oh also added 6 new shaded areas over barnyard pens over their waters, so they might stay a bit cooler.... we've been changing their HOT waters 3-4 times a day! Poor things.
June 22, 2009 Rescued a ferret. Sweet little guy. After looking him over, he had several rotten teeth, took him to Dr Danner office. Dr Plunkett said he had 3 bad teeth, 1 being a dead canine tooth, causing him to feel sickly. He's better now!
June 18, 2009 Rescued a poor little conure. Losing his feathers, declared he was mean and didnt want anyone touching him. WELL, as of June 22, he loves us! Loves baths, loves attention.... poor misunderstood little guy. Thank you, we love him! Come visit him, and watch him rehabilitate.

June 9, 2009 Got call to rescue a South African BoarBell (mix between a Bull Mastiff and South African Hunting Dog) says he eats through chainlink fence! We dont have a place for that kind of dog.
